Joseph Dobrick

Joseph Dobrick, 91, of Morgantown, died June 15, 2015 at his home. He was born in Pangburn Hollow, West Elizabeth, PA, January 19, 1924 to the late Steve and Anna Dobrick. Joseph served with the Civilian Conservation Corps; a WWII veteran, as a member of the US Army's 96th Infantry Division. He served in the Pacific Theater, including the Battle of Letyte and was in the first wave onto the island of Okinawa. He is an alum of Slippery Rock and University of Pittsburgh. He was an educator and coach at Leetsdale and Quaker Valley High Schools in PA and at Walt Whitman, Churchill and Richard Montgomery High Schools in MD. Joseph holds the distinction of having coached the only undefeated football team (1956-57) in the history of Quaker Valley High School. Also, he was inducted into the Quaker Valley High School Hall of Fame in 2012. He was a member of the American Legion and a former leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Carole; sister, Sophie Graham; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Karen Eamigh, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings: Dan, Dee, Zora, and Mildred. The family would like to thank Hospice of Morgantown for the special care of Joe. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Friday, June 19, from 4-8 PM. Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM with Reverend Brian Detrick presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Virginia University Fellowship of Christian Athletes, PO Box 202, Dellslow, WV 26531, or Quaker Valley Sports Hall of Fame, Q.V. Athletic Department, 625 Beaver Street, Leetsdale, PA 15056.
