June Carruth

June Carruth, 92, of Suncrest passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born in Defiance, Ohio on May 29, 1923, the daughter of Samuel Young and Nathalia Warncke Young. The family moved to Oak Park, Illinois and June grew up in Chicago. She met her husband Jim Carruth at the University of Illinois where she earned a degree in Psychology, married and moved to Morgantown in 1953. She raised 4 children, put in over 3,000 volunteer hours at Ruby Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, and was a fixture in local bridge clubs, book clubs, PEO and Campus Club. She was a devoted member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Carson Carruth of Stanton, CA; her daughters, Jeanne Evelyn Oshiro and husband, John of Manhattan Beach, CA Jantsy Ayersman and partner Dave Nickowski of Glen Bernie, MD, Judy Martin and husband Glen of Morgantown; 5 grandchildren, Jackie and husband Cliff, Sarah, Jeff, Molly and husband Josh and Janet; 2 great grand children, Maylee and Carson In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Franklin Carruth, brothers, Carson, Roland, and Samuel Young and sister Ardyce Young. Cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home, Omega Crematory. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown Sunday, December 13th from 1-3p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00p.m. with Rev. Randall Flanagan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in June’s memory to Morgantown Area of Meals on Wheels, 3375 University Avenue, Morgantown, WV 26505.
