Kim Alan Roscher

Kim Alan Roscher, 70, of Morgantown passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital with family by his side.

Kim was born on May 10, 1953, the son of the late John and Phyllis Roscher. He grew up in the area of Jeannette, PA.

He attended college in Salem, WV, majoring in chemistry, where he met his wife. They would end up making a life for themselves in Morgantown, West Virginia and would raise their family there.

Kim enjoyed spending time with family and friends first and foremost. No matter what the occasion, even just sitting on the porch and talking. He had a broad range of interests, most of which he shared with his loved ones. He could be considered a "jack of all trades", found wiring a house or building a computer. He enjoyed classical music and listening to his daughters playing in the community orchestra. He liked classic cars (mostly European) and working on them with his son. He loved to travel and try different cuisines, with a penchant for German, even attending the Goethe Institute in Germany to learn the language. He liked the outdoors, was fond of landscaping and plants. In his younger years, he would go caving, mountain climbing, and continued to hunt and fish. He loved anything related to space, to go to museums, and old battlefields. Playing golf and going to sporting events (except football). In his later years, he began homebrewing beer, owning horses, and raising honey bees. He finished his education with a Masters Degree in World Business from University of Phoenix online, many years before online degrees were popular. Truly, he was a lifelong learner, and could be found watching YouTube videos, or reading and listening to audio books, but was not a fan of watching silly TV shows (except Peppa Pig with his grandson)!

Kim was a long-time employee of 30 years at Mylan Pharmaceuticals. He started in IT and ended as the Associate Director of Global Quality, until he retired in 2017. While at Mylan he met many people, some of which would become family. They meant so much to him. He had many great stories he would tell of all their worldly travels. It would be shorter to list the countries he's not been to, than to list the one's he had.

Kim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Jody Roscher; son, Jay Roscher; two daughters, Nicole and Brittany. He is also survived by his 5 year old grandson Joey, who was his world and the feeling was mutual. Joey referred to him as his "Poppy". The pair were inseparable. He is also survived by his brother Doug Crocker and his wife Debbie, their children (his nieces) Desirae and Dawn.

In addition to his parents, Kim was preceded in death by his grandparents Ralph "Pap" Volk and wife Wilda who he loved dearly. As he did his many aunts and uncles on the Volk side.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Saturday, July 29, from 2:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 5:00 pm with Pastor Tim Haring of Chestnut Ridge Church officiating. Where Kim attended church with his family for many years. A private interment will take place at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens at a later date.
