Leona Uphold

Leona Mae Uphold, 86, of Morgantown, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.She was born in Morgantown on August 12, 1925, a daughter of the late Charles Allen Keener and the late Pearl Grace (Summers) Keener.Mrs. Uphold was a graduate of Morgantown High School. She spent 27 years as a Nurseâs Aide, working first with the former Vincent Palotti Hospital, and then retiring from Monongalia General Hospital.Leona Mae was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who was very active with her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, and overnight stays at Big Bear Lake. She was loved by all she touch, and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Clarence Uphold her children Charles Uphold and wife, Sherry, Barbara Golden and husband, Dan, Patty Mason, Betty Golden and husband, Dave, Brenda White and husband Joe White all of Morgantown her grandchildren Kim Kerns, Crystal Golden, Mike Golden, Amy Golden, Debbie Bennett, Danny Golden, Talley Swaney, Kelly White, Joey White, Butch White, David Mason, Michelle Hall, Charles Uphold and Heidi Uphold, as well as her sister, Magalene Ayersman and 27 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Clarence Uphold, Jr. her brothers, Web Keener and wife, Marion, Clarence Keener and wife, Grace, Paige Keener and wife, June, and Clifford Keener and her sister, Gertrude Taylor and husband, Warren. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 4-6 PM on Friday, November 25, from 2-6 PM on Saturday, November 26, and again on Sunday, November 27, from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 PM with Rev. Elmer Nicholson officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hills Cemetery, Morgantown.
