Libero “Lee” Carmelo Policicchio, 67, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Lago, Italy on February 4, 1948, a son of the late Gabriele Policicchio and the late Violanda (Naccarato) Policicchio. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Rose Mary Medina Policicchio; two sons, Gabriele Policicchio and fiancé Sondra Brown, and Adriano Policicchio and his wife Sara Jones Policicchio; six grandchildren, Carmella, Isabella, Marcello, Domenic, Giovanni and Mila; and one brother, Francesco “Frank” Policicchio and his wife Teresa In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Pietro “Pete” Policicchio. Lee loved working in his garden and tending to his fig and fruit trees, as well as playing Italian cards with family and friends and helping them in any way he could. He enjoyed traveling to the beach with his family, taking road trips with his sons, and drinking a cold beer. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Thursday, May 14th from 5-8 PM. On Friday, May 15th, Mr. Policicchio will be moved to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, One Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, where he will lay in repose from 10 Am until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 Am with Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati, STD, VE as celebrant. Following the Funeral Mass, the family’s wishes for cremation will be honored and inurnment will be held at a later in the East Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lee’s memory may be made to the Libero Policicchio Memorial Fund at Clear Mountain Bank, 1889 Earl Core Rd., Morgantown, WV 26505.
