Lon Cleaver, age 98, of Morgantown, West Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Lon was born on November 18, 1924, in Newton, Illinois, son of the late Lon and Blanche (Winterrowd) Cleaver, Sr.
After graduating high school, Lon enlisted in the US Army as a surgical medic, stationed outside of London, England, and supporting the allied forces of World War II. Lon married Norma Fern Foltz in 1946 and began his career in sales with the Hughes Tool Company where he worked for 35 years in field and executive sales.
Lon was very proud of his family. He and Norma had three daughters and lived in several U.S. states as directed by Hughes Tool, including Michigan, West Virginia, Minnesota, and Ohio.
Lon was good at many things and enjoyed time spent on his hobbies of photography, carpentry and a lifelong love of reading and learning.
Lon is survived by his wife of 77 years, Norma; his children, Linda (Joel) Allen, Jan (Andy) Anderson, and Lana Butler; his grandchildren, Jess Anderson (Ryan Shade), Audrey (Bobby) Thompson, Jack Butler and great grandchildren, Madison and James Shade, and Finn Thompson.
In addition to his parents, Lon was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Richard Butler.

A private inurnment is planned at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota.
