Madeline M. Fink McGinnis, 97, of Morgantown, unexpectedly passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Pemberton, WV on September 19, 1917, the eldest daughter of the late Leffie and Bertha (Brammer) Fink of Ghent, WV. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Warren McGinnis. Madeline was a 1936 graduate and Valedictorian of Shady Spring High School and earned her teaching degree from Concord College. She began her teaching career in Daniels and Crab Orchard, WV. Being a military wife, she taught school in Japan and upon returning to the states in 1960, began teaching in the Moon Area Schools until her retirement in 1980. She is survived by her daughter, Trela Kay Pierce and her husband Douglas of Morgantown; siblings, Gerline Lilly, Arline Mathis, and Etheline Trent; grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Pierce, Deborah Stuut, all of Michigan, Daniel and Jennifer Yellets; eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Margo Yellets; brothers, Bernard, Basil, and Bill Fink; and sister, Gailene DeLuca. Trela and Doug would like to extend a special, grateful thank you to Frank and Clorinda Ammons for their many years of loving care given to our mother. Mrs. McGinnis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morgantown. In keeping with her wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home in Morgantown. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 6-8 PM on Saturday, February 28th. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 432 High Street, Morgantown on Sunday, March 1st at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mark Kays officiating. Private inurnment along side of her husband will take place at a later time at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of one’s choice.
