Mary Golden

Mary Frances Golden, 100, of East Brockway Avenue, Morgantown, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Morgantown on December 11, 1913, the daughter of the late Michael Venetta and the late Francesca Ciancucci Venetta. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Fred D. Golden in 1999; her sisters Nan Peterson, Margaret Reseter, and Sunda Wheeler; and a brother, Frank Venetta. Survivors include two daughters, Frances Golden and Sandra Bonnett both of Morgantown; a grandson, Eric Golden and his wife Lynda; two granddaughters, Rae Ann Schrader and Rebecca Ayersman; her great-grandchildren, Quinn Golden, Elijah Schrader, Russell Ewald, Jr., David Tinker, Justin Triplett and Aaron Triplett; five great-great-grandchildren; and her foster grandchildren, Timi Lane Ridgeway, her husband Dwayne and their four children, and Riki Thomas, her husband Joe and their three children. Mary worked at the former Morgan Shirt Factory for 25 years and the former Colshire Pajama Factory for 22 years, only stopping at the age of 80 when the plant finally closed down. She was a dedicated and devoted member of the former St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, and currently St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where she was particularly fond of and interested in the Children's Music Ministry. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Tuesday, March 18th from 4-8 PM. A Scriptural Wake Service will be recited in the funeral home at 7:30 PM to conclude the visitation. On Wednesday, March 19th, Mrs. Golden will be moved to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, One Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, where she will lay in repose from 10 AM until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Very Rev. Mark G. Ward, CP, VF as celebrant. Interment will follow in the East Oak Grove Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Fred.
