Mary Louise Buck, 76, Of Charles Avenue, Woodburn Neighborhood, Morgantown WV, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness due to pulmonary complications. Mary Louise was born on October 15, 1938 in Denbo, Pa., the daughter of the late William E. Henck and late Mary M. Henck. She graduated from Mapletown High School in 1956 with desires of studying nursing. Upon graduating, she moved to Morgantown, WV where she became a student nurse and met her late husband, Robert Andrew “Tip” Buck. One of 18 nurses who graduated from the nursing program at Monongalia General Hospital in 1959, Mary Louise began her nursing career at Monongalia General Hospital, where in her tenure, she held various titles including: Student Nurse, Graduate Nurse, RN, Assistant Head Nurse, House Supervisor, Pharmacy Nurse, Senior Team Leader and finally Nurse Manager of the 6th floor upon her retirement on October 1, 2001, after 40 years of service. Mary Louise was highly respected by her patients, doctors and peers. A long-time resident of the Morgantown community, Mary Louise had a zest for life, and touched the hearts and lives of everyone she knew. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed spending her time volunteering, attending WVU football and basketball games and being a member of the BOPARC Senior Sophisticates Tap-Dancing Troupe, the Morgantown Red Hat Society and Lady Shriners of Morgantown, among various other activities. Mary Louise loved traveling, square-dancing and spending time with her many friends, children, beloved grandsons and sweetheart Pete. Mary Louise is survived by her son; William Joseph “Billy” Buck and companion Jayne Meredith of Pittsburgh PA, her daughter, son-in-law and beloved grandsons; Amie Louise Walters and Michael “Jason” Walters and Kameron Avery and Carson Andrew Walters of Clarksburg, MD. She is also survived by her companion Pete Wotring of Frostburg, MD, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Andrew “Tip” Buck, her brother, William E. Henck and sister Barbara A. Chipps. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown WV on Tuesday, October 13th from 4-7pm. Visitations will continue on Wednesday, October 14th from 10am, until the time of funeral service at 11am with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover, WV. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia, Morgantown WV.
