Mary Teresa Oliver

Mary Theresa Silletta (Slate) Oliver, 86, went to our Lord peacefully on August 19, 2015. She was born April 13, 1929, to the late Antonio & Teresa Silletta and was a 1948 graduate of St. Francis High School. Though she lived in Belle Vernon, PA for thirty five years, she lived in Morgantown, WV for most of her life. Mary will be long remembered for her humbleness, gentle spirit and her uncommon ability to be a patient listener. One of the highlights of Mary's life was living with her family in Scarborough, England in 1962, a unique experience. Mary's heart felt interest was family and she had a passion and talent for cooking the best Italian and non-Italian meals for her family. That beautiful legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren. Mary was also an avid reader and gardener. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Staff Sergeant Nick Oliver, USMC, and her brother, John Silette. She is survived by her children, Dan & his wife Alisa Oliver, Marcia & her husband Kevin Clarke, Diana & her husband Bob Frum; daughter-in-law Mary Q. Oliver; grandchildren Nicklaus Oliver & his wife Lindsay, Natalie Oliver, Miles Montgomery & his wife Leslie, Robert Dillon, Oliver Frum and Julianna Frum; great granddaughters, Cate & Ava Montgomery, Angelina (Nina) & Natalie Grace (Peach) Oliver; sisters Ann Ponceroff (Jumbo), Elaine Atchison ( Dave), and brother Mickey Silette & his wife Nancy. Mary touched and leaves behind many other family and friends that she loved dearly. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Friday, August 28th from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8:30pm. Visitation will continue at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 3334B University Avenue, Star City, on Saturday, August 29th from 10:00 a.m. until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father John V. DiBacco as Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Peace Hall.
