Melvin Wayne Colebank, Sr., 86, of Ridgeley, WV and formerly of Morgantown, passed away Monday evening, September 24, 2012 at Cumberland Regional Medical Center of Cumberland, MD.He was born in Morgantown on October 10, 1925, a son of the late Glenn Dale Colebank and the late Dora Etta (Wolfe) Colebank.Survivors include his two children, Linda Simpson and husband Kevin of Ridgeley, WV and Wayne Colebank and wife Diane of Scottsdale, AZ grandsons, Brady Simpson and wife Alisa, Jared Simpson and wife, Heidi, Michael Colebank and wife Kim, and Neil Colebank 7 great grandchildren and two sisters, Betty Colebank, and Mary McNair and her husband Jim all of Morgantown.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Elsie Marie Fasching Colebank in 2010 a sister, Loretta Walls and a brother, Glenn Colebank.Mr. Colebank attended the Canyon Presbyterian Church and was a brick and stone mason by trade. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II with the Army Corp of Engineers. He enjoyed yardwork and gardening, as well as sitting outside on his porch reading his newspapers. He was a sports enthusiast, particularly of football and baseball. Mr. Colebank loved politics and was a democrat â" through and through.More than anything, he especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Colebank has been cremated.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Friday, September 28th from 5:00 PM until the time of the memorial service at 6:30 PM with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at Mt. Union Cemetery, Point Marion Rd., Morgantown no later than 9:45 AM on Saturday, September 29th where graveside committal services with Full Military Honors will be accorded at 10 AM.",337503
