Michael Thomas Couch

Michael Thomas “Blu” Couch, age 34, of Marietta, GA, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022. He was born on August 5th, 1987 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ, son of Thomas and Carolyn Velma Woods Couch.

He attended Osborne High School of Marietta GA. He had many skills as well as of many trades. He was a man who was a part of many trades. Michael did everything he could think of to take care of family. He was great with his hands which led him to being a part of great accomplishments. One, in particular, furniture installations for Piedmont Hospital, Georgia Tech’s C.O.D.A. Building, as well as Coca Cola as well as many others.

But Michael’s real passion was cooking. He would cook for everyone, the neighborhood, strangers, and anyone who had a grumble in their stomach. Every day was considered pretty much a cookout at Blu’s house. He was the type of man to tell you, “no” but the first to show up. Michael never missed a beat when it came to anyone he loved.

He has multiple hobbies from building his car from the ground up and becoming the president of his car club to maintaining a beautiful garden at his home.

Michael found peace. He loved to laugh and create irreplaceable memories we all will cherish from dancing, joking and loving, to the talks of struggles and lessons of life. He was considered a phenomenal man loved by all, a great father, an amazing son as well as a righteous big brother.

Michael Thomas, better known as “Blu”, is survived by his wife, Konya; two daughters, Milah Tanese Couch (11 years old), and Charlie Jade Couch (3 years old); both parents, Carolyn Velma Couch of Marietta GA and Lewis Thomas Couch and wife, Kony C. Couch, of New Jersey; two brothers Christopher “Scooby” of Marietta, GA and Lewis “Blu Diamond” Hayes of New Jersey; his grandparents Bernice Woods Brown of Marietta, GA and Charles H. Woods of Morgantown, WV; two nephews Amir Frazier, Jaquan Hayes and Corey Curton as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his little sister, Bernice Evelyn Couch.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Saturday, March 26th 2022 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m., with Pastor Gwen officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
