Quindino John DeProspero, 86, of Madison Avenue, Morgantown, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009, at his home.John was born in Harding on July 20, 1923, the son of the late Dominic and Josephine Masterjoseph DeProspero.John was Catholic by faith. He graduated from St. Francis High School.He served in World War II in China and New Delhi as a corporal with the 475th infantry. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking. He was especially proud of his garden. John retired from the Morgantown Transit Authority. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Weimer DeProspero his sons, Dan DeProspero and wife, Jackie of Apex, NC, John DeProspero and wife, Kimberly of Morgantown, Mark DeProspero and wife, Valerie of Worthington, WV and Mario DeProspero and wife, Terri of Clearwater, FL a daughter, Marie Awbrey and husband, Kevin of Sebring, FL his step-children, David and Patty Weimer, Carol Barlow and Darlene Headley all of Morgantown and Christine and Wayne Smith of Cookstown, NJ his sisters, Hazel Gaspar and Gloria Barkaszi of Morgantown, and Lena Angotti of Delaware niece and nephew Cecilia Palmer and Francis LaGatta or Morgantown were raised as siblings 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by two sisters Carmella LaGatta and Eulanda Smith and a brother, Ike DeProspero. The family would like to thank Morgantown Dialysis Center and Hospice Care Corp. for all their care and concern, with a very special thank you to Brenda, Dawn, and Clair. Friends will be received at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, from 4-7pm on Sunday, October 4. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held in the church at 7pm on Sunday. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, October 5, from 10-11am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am with Fr. Leon Alexander as Celebrant. Burial will be held at East Oak Grove Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded at the graveside.
