Richard Dale Pill

Richard Dale Pill, 88, of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at his residence. Born March 12, 1926 in Morgantown, WV he was the son of the late Edward and Pearl Montoney Pill. He was a World War II combat veteran of the US Navy and a proud life member of the VFW. He also served on the board at Mon-General Hospital, member of the Monongalia County Recreation Board, and numerous other committees, also coached many years for the youth baseball and basketball leagues in Morgantown. He had been a member of Spruce Street United Methodist Church in Morgantown and then later became a member of Bedington United Methodist Church in Martinsburg. Survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Thelma Degler Pill; two sons, Rick Pill and wife, Donna; Dave Pill; five grandchildren, Shannon Gallo and husband, Paul, Jessica Gingold and husband Ian, Katie Pill-Ridgley and husband Leo Ridgley, Ashley Pill, and Christy Pill; one great-granddaughter, Serena Gallo; two sisters, Eileen Hunter and Patty Vecchio. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Nelda Hogan, Edith Odom, Virginia Packer, Grace Cross, and Katherine Findley; and one brother, Edward Pill. Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg; and Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Hastings Funeral Home, Morgantown, WV. Services will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 11:00AM at Hastings Funeral Home. Interment will be in East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, WV.
