Robert Bynon Conner of Morgantown died Thursday morning, October 7, 2010, at West Virginia Veteranâs Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, WV.He was born in Morgantown on June 5, 1922, and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Conner.He was a lifelong resident of Morgantown and the Woodburn area, attended local schools and graduated from West Virginia University with an MBA. He served in World War II in the third Army and was wounded twice in Bastogne in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a decorated soldier who received two purple hearts and a bronze star. After his tour of duty in the military he joined his father in their dry cleaning business in Morgantown. Later, he became a member of the faculty of the College of Business and Economics and taught there until his retirement in 1987. He was active in many civic organizations and participated in delivering Meals on Wheels. Mr. Conner was a member of First Presbyterian Church.Mr. Conner was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna (Bowling) Conner, and his older brother, Frank Conner, Jr. Robert is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ann Cline Conner his children, Robert, Jr. (Barbara) of Pulaski, VA, Terry Lynn (James) Magro of St. Clairsville, OH and Bradley (Ahlon) of Charlottesville, VA a step-daughter, Debra Burgess (Bruce) of Gilbert, WV his grandchildren, Brinley (Angela) Conner, Kathryn Magro, Stacey (Trevor) Burkhart and Bynon Conner his step-grandchildren, Blake and Megan Burgess and one sister, Martha Rosenbaum of Daytona Beach, FL.The family received friends at First Presbyterian Church, 456 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Sunday, October 10th from 1 PM until the time of the memorial service at 2 PM with Pastors John Sonnenday and Kris Haig officiating. Interment was held later at the convenience of the family.
