Robert Hendershot

Robert Bruce Hendershot, 62, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Monongalia General Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.Robert was born in Wheeling, WV on December 1, 1947, a son of the late Charles Hendershot and the late Helen (Fillipovich) Hendershot.Bob was an honors graduate from Ohio State University, having received B.S. Degrees in both Mathematical and Industrial Engineering.He was instrumental in designing and establishing the Personal Rapid Transit System (PRT) and retired after more than 38 years of service from West Virginia University on the PRT. He was also well known throughout the transportation community.Survivors include his only sister, Pam Cole and spouse Oscar of Wooster, OH his loving companion, Debra Kaye a niece, Hollie Spence and spouse Rev. Greg Spence, and a nephew, Mike Cole and spouse Tracy, all of Ohio several great-nieces and one great-nephew.Bobâs wishes to have no viewing have been honored. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.Hastings Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
