Robert Luther Brewer, Sr.

Robert Luther Brewer, Sr., 86, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Morgantown January 15, 1930; son of the late Burrous B. & Beulah (Summers) Brewer. He was a coal miner and carpenter and a 50 year member of Carpenters Union Local 604 of Morgantown. Robert was a faithful member, of Glen Oaks Church of Christ. He enjoyed mowing his yard, riding his 4 wheeler, eating ice cream, tinkering around and teasing his grandchildren. He was a very loving husband for 66 years, he married the love of his life Jean (Robinson) Brewer, May 21, 1949. A wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather, loved by all and will be missed by many Robert is survived by his wife Jean, his children; Barbara (Barry) Akers, Roy (Vickie) Brewer, Joyce (Fred) Lambert, Brenda (Kenneth) Swiger and Donna (Randy) Summers and daughter-in-law Linda Kantes; grandchildren, Cheryl Ferrell, Pamela Glover, Robert Brewer III, Carrie Meadows, Matthew Akers, Kristina Perry, Keli Weigle, Brandon and Cody Brewer, Todd, Amanda, Amy Lambert, Laura Hetzer, Ryan and Megan Swiger, Cordell and Madison Summers; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dean and John Brewer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Brewer, Jr., brothers, Richard and Francis Brewer. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Monday, March 7th, from 4-8pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 8th from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am with Evangelist Vernon Teagarden officiating. Interment will follow in the Gladesville Cemetery.
