Robert Eugene Thewlis

Robert Eugene Thewlis, Sr., 88, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at J W Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 5, 1933, son of the late Fred and Ethel (McElroy) Thewlis. Bob served the U. S. Army and worked construction throughout his life. He is survived by sons, Robert (Beth) Morgantown, and Clif Thewlis of Goose Creek, South Carolina; two grandsons, Eric (Tracy) and Charles (Emily) Thewlis of Morgantown, and four granddaughters. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, of 67 years, Catherine, in January of this year. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Stacy Chrise-Tritt officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 9916 in Westover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to a charity of your choice.
