Ronald Edward Richardson, Sr., 85, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, September 8th, 2015, at Monongalia General Hospital. He was born in Sistersville, WV, on December 21, 1929, a son of the late Charles Joseph and Evelyn Verfurth Richardson. Ron attended The Hill School in Pottstown, PA, and graduated in 1947 followed by WVU where he received a Business Degree in1951. While attending WVU, he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the ROTC program. Ron served in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 where he became a First Lieutenant and Company Commander of the 321st Signal Base Depot at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. In 1954, Ron went to work for the L. G. Balfour Company and Taylor Publishing Company with whom he worked for 40 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. In 1968, he purchased a second home in Canaan Valley, WV, where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. In 2001, he bought a condo. in Marathon Key, FL, where he loved to go fishing and boating. In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, JoAnn Dodds Richardson, and his brother, Charles Joseph Richardson, II. Ron is survived by his children, Dr. Ronald E. Richardson, Jr. and wife, Nannette, of Melbourne, FL, Douglas D. Richardson and wife, Margaret, of Morgantown, and Ann L. Richardson Keaton of Morgantown; his grandchildren, Brent and Austin Richardson of Melbourne, FL, Samuel and Garrett Richardson of Morgantown, and Allison and Matthew Keaton of Morgantown; a sister Rita Carolyn Richardson Hagarty of Frisco, TX; dear friend, Roselee Williams of State College, PA; a niece; and seven nephews. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Thursday, September 10th from 5-7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, September 11th from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Monica Styron officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover.
