Ronald Melvin Bolyard, 92, currently of Morgantown and formerly of Rowelsburg, passed away Monday afternoon, February 2, 2015 at Mapleshire Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center of Morgantown. He was born March 7, 1922 in Pierce, WV, a son of the late Chester and Eunice Henline Bolyard. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Ginny Bolyard of Northport, NY; his granddaughter Heather Bolyard; his step-daughter and spouse Helen and Howard Ashenfelter of Morgantown; a step-son-in-law Keith Riggs of Wiley Ford, WV; two step-grandsons and their spouses, Dale and Gretchen Riggs, and Mark and Shirley Riggs; five step-great grandchildren and one step great-great-grandson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives Catherine Leonzio Bolyard and Eleanor Casteel Bolyard; a grandson, Ryan Bolyard; a step-daughter, Margaret Riggs; and a brother, Virgil Bolyard. Mr. Bolyard served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as a clerk and also as Postmaster for the US Post Office in Rowelsburg. Mr. Bolyard’s family is honoring his wishes for cremation to take place. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood, where Full Military Honors will be accorded at a later date. Ronald requested that donations in his memory be made to United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Suffolk, 250 Marcus Blvd., Hauppauge, NY 11788. The family would like to thank the staff of The Village at Heritage Point and the staff of Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care during the final period of his life. Hastings Funeral Home of Morgantown is assisting the family with the arrangements.
