Ronald Whitener, 77, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025 at his home. He was born November 11, 1947 in Washington, D.C., a son of the late Cecil and Mary (Fisher) Whitener.
He served his country for 24 years in the United States Army Special Forces, 82nd Airborne and was a Green Beret. Upon leaving the military, he worked for 20 years at the Bureau of Prisons and Preston Memorial Hospital as a Physician's Assistant. In his free time, he enjoyed travelling, riding his motorcycle, and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elvia (Santana) Whitener; daughters, Jenny Whitener and Aylisa Whitener; granddaughter, Julissa Uphold; and several siblings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Whitener and sister, Patty Drummond.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home and there will be no public services.
