Ruth Iris Bolyard, 93, of West Pennsylvania Ave., Westover, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at her residence. Ruth was born in Tunnelton, WV on September 4, 1919, a daughter of the late Earl and Addie McGinnis Sterling. Ruth graduated from the former Tunnelton High School. She was a godly woman who took pride in raising her family to serve the Lord. She was a great cook who always made you eat when you came to her house, and was famous for her Cinnamon Rolls. She would always can vegetables and was known as a "green bean snapping machine." She had a great sense of humor and always made you feel welcomed. Most of all, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who made sure that her family was always provided for, safe and protected. No matter what, she would guide with a loving and gentle hand and was always there when you needed her. Survivors include her three daughters, Carolyn Fiorini Jones and her husband Carl of Morgantown, Janet Clark and her husband Donald of Missoula, MT and Peggy Poling and her husband Richard of Angier, NC; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara "Boots"Sterling Greaser and her husband Bob of Kingwood, and Gerri Sterling Brown of Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William James Bolyard in 1990; a son, William James "Wick" Bolyard, Jr.; a granddaughter, Tammy Bolyard, and nine brothers and sisters. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 6-8 PM Thursday, January 10th and again on Friday, January 11th from 9 AM until the time of the funeral service at 10 AM with Reverend Kevin Cain officiating.
