Sam Luci, 93, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Monongalia General Hospital. He was born in Preston County on November 3, 1921, the son of the late Luigi Luci and the late Concetta (Latanzi) Luci. A devout Catholic, he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Star City. Mr. Luci served in the United States Army & was a lifetime member of the Westover VFW. He was the owner and operator of Sam’s Auto Repair. In his free time, he previously served as a guard at the WVU Coliseum and enjoyed bowling in leagues around the area. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Anne Morrone and her husband Sam of Lakeland, FL; a son, Greg Luci of Morgantown; and five grandchildren, Sammy Morrone of DeKalb, IL, Dr. Matt Morrone of Greenville, NC, Kristyn Morrone of Lakeland, FL, Caitlyn Morrone of Lakeland, FL and Nicholas Luci of Morgantown; siblings, Olga D’Amico of Morgantown, Orland Luci of Morgantown, and Pete Luci and his wife Sally of Ohio. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Barkaszi Luci; and brothers, Jack, Iglo, and Dominick Luci. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Wednesday, May 13th from 3-9 PM, where a Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8:30 PM Wednesday evening to conclude visitation. On Thursday, May 14th, Mr. Luci will be moved to St. Mary Catholic Church in Star City, where he will lay in repose from 10 AM until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Interment will follow in the East Oak Grove Cemetery. Full Military Funeral Rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Westover VFW.
