Thelma Shaffer

Thelma Irene Shaffer, 75, of West Beverly St., Kingwood, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at Ruby Memorial Hospital of Morgantown, WV. Thelma Irene was born in Pine Bluff on November 5, 1938, the daughter of the late Lester Bernard Saffle and the late Katherine (Fischer) Saffle. She was predeceased by her parents. Survivors include her two children, Robert Lester Shaff and his wife Shirley of Masontown, WV, and Gerald Lee Shaffer of Kingwood; three grandchildren, Robert Lester Shaffer, Jr. and his wife Denise of Terra Alta, Roy McClain Shaffer and his wife Cara of Kingwood and Matthew Blake Shaff of Masontown; five great-grandchildren, Alexis, Abigail, Blake, Parker and Noah Shaffer; two sisters, Betty Nicklow and her husband Bill of Ohio, and Mary Kay Viggiani and her husband Lenny of Nevada; and a brother-in-law Paul Calvert of Kingwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Shaffer, Sr.; two children, William Shaffer, Jr. and Donna Shaffer; and a sister, Pauline Calvert. Thelma was a hard-working woman who worked most of her life. She was an awesome seamstress who loved painting, ceramics and taking care of her family. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 5-9 PM Thursday, February 13th and again on Friday, February 14th from 10 Am until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.
