Verl Smith

Verl Junior âSmittyâ Smith, 69, of Lawnview Ave., Morgantown, passed away Friday evening, November 23, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.Verl was born in Morgantown on June 6, 1943, a son of the late Verl Wilton Smith and the late Grace Myrtle (Harshburger) Smith.He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda K. Moore Smith one son, Michael Verl Smith of Morgantown a brother, Ronnie Smith and his wife Jane of Clarksburg, WV a sister, Linda G. Smith of Brandonville, WV three nephews and their spouses, four great-nieces and nephews three aunts one uncle and two very special ladies, Brenda Holland and Fonda Austin of Morgantown.Smitty was a union electrician and worked out of Local 425 in Fairmont. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved spending time at Big Bear Lake and with all of his friends.Mr. Smithâs wishes for cremation have been honored by his family. Per his request no services will be held.The family would like to thank the Monongalia County EMS, the ER Staff of Monongalia General Hospital, the ER Staff of Ruby Memorial Hospital and the staff of the SICU at Ruby Memorial Hospital and their doctors for the care given to Smitty.Memorial contributions may be made in ""Verl's"" memory to In Touch & Concerned, 693 Fairmont Road, Westover, WV 26501.
