Virginia Mcnear

Virginia Martha McNear, 84, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Sundale Nursing Home. Virginia was born in Morgantown on September 22, 1925, the daughter of the late Arthur F. and Sarah McDaniel Strahin. She was very loving, and expressed her love through her fabulous cooking abilities. She was best known for her delicious pies and donuts. She baked donuts by the dozen for family reunions and other events including, the building of the Kingdom Hall. She baked all types, from glazed and powdered sugar to custard, jelly, and cream filled as well as éclairs and other cakes and pastries. Virginia had worked for several restaurants in Kingwood. She is survived by her sisters, Lucille Titchnell of Kingwood, Clara Mae Hipt of Virginia, Opal Walker, of Morgantown, Betty Chandler and husband Dennis of Arizona and Mary Crow of Pennsylvania her brothers, Ralph Strahin of Tennessee and Albert Strahin of Philippi grandchildren, Michelle Gordon of Morgantown, Russel Gordon and wife Nicole of Florida. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. McNear, her daughter, Alice M. âPattyâ Gordon, and her brothers, Charles, Melvin, Freddy, Virgil, Wallace and Ray Strahin. Cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced.
