Wallace J. Shank, Jr.

Wallace "Wally" J. Shank, Jr., of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at his home. He was born on August 29, 1947, in Morgantown, WV, son of Mildred Ruby (Deusenberry) Shank and the late Wallace Junior Shank, Sr. Wally was a 1965 Morgantown High School graduate. He proudly played the trumpet in the MHS band and was thrilled to play in the Macy's Day Parade. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era stationed in Pensacola, FL, Norfolk, Virginia and Keflavik, Iceland. He went on to work as a correctional officer at the Kennedy Center in Morgantown and retired with 30 years of total government service. Wally was known to have many talents. He was certified in HVAC. He held several black belts in Aikido, Tai Chi, martial arts, was a trainer for the Department of Justice for other correctional officers. For fun, Wally was known as a motorcycle enthusiast and loved travelling around with his brothers including a trip to Canada to see Niagara Falls, Memphis, TN, to see Graceland, the Carolina shore and all over West Virginia on his Harley Davidson. On a serious note, Wally was very much loved by his family and displayed himself as a devoted son as his mother's primary caregiver for over 25 years. Wally is survived by mother, Mildred Shank; children, Wally Shank and Jennifer Behr; grandchildren, Ronnie, Joey, and Emma Behr, Tyler, Austin, Ethen and Evan Shank; and siblings, Marshall and Paul Shank.
