Dr. Warren (Andy) T. Anderson, age 83, of Morgantown, West Virginia, passed away on April 9, 2025 at his home.
Dr. Anderson was born on November 14, 1941, in New York City. In 1963 he became a proud graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and received his medical degree from Temple University in 1967. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency at Letterman General Hospital. A member of the US Army Medical Corps, he then finished his fellowship in cardiology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He served in the US Army for eleven years and held the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was board-certified in internal medicine and cardiology. Later in his career he also obtained board certification in nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Anderson joined Morgantown Internal Medicine Group in 1977, becoming the first private practice cardiologist in Morgantown. Through his efforts (along with a treadmill and an echocardiography machine) he began to develop the cardiac care program at Mon General Hospital (now Mon Health Medical Center). His vision included providing state-of-the-art cardiac care to Morgantown and the surrounding areas. He was instrumental in the advancement of cardiac services at the hospital, including the development of its catheterization laboratory, open-heart surgery unit, and nuclear medicine program. Over the years he recruited many talented cardiologists to help create the cardiac program that exists today.
Dr. Anderson retired in 2012, and in 2013 the Warren T Anderson, MD Cardiac Care Center was dedicated in his honor, culminating 35 years of service to Mon General and our community.
Dr. Anderson leaves behind a loving family: his wife Jan Anderson, children Erik Anderson, (Dr. Emily Burrill), Victoria Anderson, and Dr. Jess Anderson (Ryan Shade), along with grandchildren Rhys Anderson, Madison Shade, and James Shade, and his sister Janet Hanna.
The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and caregivers at Amedisys Hospice for their kindness and support, and to Ryan Ford at Hastings Funeral Home for his concern and guidance.
Friends and family will be received at Greater Love Family Outreach Ministries, 200 Frederick Lane, Morgantown, on Saturday, April 26th from 11:00AM until the time of the memorial service at 1:00PM, with Pastor Junius Lewis officiating.
