William Edward Freeman

April 2, 1931 — June 16, 2015

William “Bill” Freeman, 84, Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at his residence. He was born on April 2, 1931 in Covington, KY, the son of the late Edward William Freeman and the late Ella Dee (Sanders) Freeman. Mr. Freeman was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as a Budget Director. In his free time, he was formerly active with the Woodbridge, Three Dale and EPWSC Little Leagues. He also donated many years of service to AARP providing free Tax Counseling and Tax Return assistance in Kentucky and West Virginia. He is survived by his children, Chris Freeman and his wife Laura of Morgantown, Carolyn Crist and her husband Raymond of Morgantown, David Freeman and his wife Patricia of The Colony, TX, and Dennis Freeman and his wife Lisa of Fredericksburg, VA; ten grandchildren; siblings, James Freeman and his wife Shima of Ohio and Irene Tapp of Kentucky; and sister in law, Margaret Freeman of Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Carolyn Freeman; and brothers, Albert and John Freeman. Friends and family will be received at the St. Luke Catholic Church, 19 Jo Glen Dr., Morgantown on Monday, June 22nd from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Father Carlos Melocoton serving as celebrant. In keeping with his wishes, following the service, cremation service will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A committal service will take place at a later time at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the WVU School of Medicine, Dept of Neurology, c/o the WVU Foundation, PO Box 1650, Morgantown, WV 26527.
