William Claude Morel, Jr.

William “Billy” C. Morel, Jr., 69, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Sundale Nursing Home after battling numerous health issues for many years. He was born on July 13, 1952, in New Orleans, LA, to the late William C. Morel, Sr., and Geraldine Hernandez Morel.

Billy is survived by one daughter, Katherine McDonald (Jimmy) of Baxter, WV;one son, William C Morel, III (Tabby) of Morgantown; one brother, Charles Morel (Cynthia) of Willow Spring, NC; two sisters, Iris Wolfe (James) of Pentress, and Caroline Shay (Leo) of Morgantown; three step-siblings, Gordon D Wishon (Cynde), FL, Christy Wishon, Richmond, VA, and Carol McGee (James), Midlothian, VA; six grandchildren, Bridgitt, Brooke, Bryson, Elizabeth, Andrew and Zarina; his most cherished great grandson, Luke; four step-grandchildren, four nieces and four nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by stepmother, Elva June Morel.

Billy can be remembered best for his kind and giving spirit. He especially wanted to make sure his family was taken care of and that gave him peace of mind.

The family would like to thank Sundale Nursing Home for their wonderful care of Billy for many years. Before Covid hit, Billy especially enjoyed the activities and the many outings Sundale provided.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Thursday, May 26th from 3 – 7 p.m. and again on Friday, May 27th from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Gladesville Cemetery.

The family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Residence Council for Activities at Sundale Nursing Home, 800 JD Anderson Drive, Morgantown, WV 26505.
