Wilma Cirbus

Wilma Holub Cirbus was born December 3, 1931 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and died February 3, 2024 in Morgantown, WV.

Wilma lived a great life as an artist, a daughter, a wife, a mother, an aunt, a grandmother, a world traveler and a friend to many.

Born in Rankin as one of four children to hard working immigrant parents, Wilma went to art school after she graduated high school and worked for Frank & Seder department store in Pittsburgh drawing their fashion ads.

Wilma always said she met her husband Frank when he stopped at the back gate to her house to say hi. Wilma and Frank married in 1953 and went on to have six children, instilling in them a love of nature, travel, food, wine, reading, museums, and education. Wilma made life fun; some of the highlights of growing up included Sunday walks to Duff Park, fossil hunting, and playing video games with her in the local arcade.

Wilma loved to travel and went all over the world with her husband Frank and their kids. Some of which she loved (Australia, Fiji and New Zealand without the kids) and some of which she tolerated (traveling across country towing a camper to see all the National Parks). After Frank's retirement, they enjoyed Elderhostel tours on a yearly basis, cruises including one on the QE2, and many visits to see their children.

An accomplished artist, her legacy lives on through her artwork. Wilma painted religious icons, did wood cuts, prints, stained glass, book making, and many other mediums that she was interested in.

After her children were grown, Wilma went to Seton Hill College to get her degree in Art History and went on to also teach art at Seton Hill.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Francis A. Cirbus, her son Mark T. Cirbus and his wife Maria S. Cirbus.

Her children (Joan Cirbus and Tom Wescott, Lisa Sloan, Jim and Cheryl Cirbus, Sue and Ed Miltenberger and Amy Snare) and grandchildren (Jon Miltenberger, Beth Miltenberger, and Rudy Cirbus) are glad that she lived a good life and is now at peace.

Hastings Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. The family wishes her services to be private.
