On Wednesday, August 24th, 2011, our most loved mother Kathleen "Kate" Deusenberry Musick of Lincova Avenue, Sabraton, passed away peacefully at home following a lengthy illness. She was in her 87th year.Kathleen Deusenberry was born on May 24, 1924, in Star City, WV. The eldest of five children born to the late Jennings Bryan and Ethel Roderick Deusenberry. She is survived by her youngest sister Patricia DeBiase of Morgantown. Her sisters Billie Deusenberry, Bonnie Policchio and Jacqueline Albert, all preceded her in death. Kate met the love of her life, John Robert Musick (Sabraton), at a ball game and they became teen-age sweethearts. They were married on May 18th, 1940, and celebrated 58 years of marriage. John preceded her in death in 1998. She was the mother of four children. Left to cherish her memory are three surviving children: Rev. Robert B. Musick and wife Bonna, Gerald W. Musick, Sr. and wife Victoria, daughter B. Kathleen (Kathy), and daughter-in-law Constance Musick, wife of her second son, David Neil, who preceded her in death in 2009. all of Sabraton. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Gerald Musick II, Sherry Musick Benson, Catherine Musick, Pamela Kate Paugh, Dorothy Musick Donham and Dana Musick also 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Yvonne Ice Musick.Kate, as she preferred to be called, was blessed with many gifts. She was a talented artist who used the watercolor medium. She was an avid reader, a conqueror of the Sunday crossword puzzles and an extraordinary baker and cook. She was a Scout Mother for the Sabraton Boy Scouts, an associate of Sister Thecla and Sister Brendan Conlon at Christian Help for many Blessed years. Over the years, Kate and friend Jane Menefee cut and sewed more than 300 quilts that were given to the needy. She taught catechism classes at St. Mary's Byzantine Church. She was employed by Sterling Faucet and G.C. Murphy's. But of all her accomplishments the one she loved most was raising her four babies ""Bob, David, Jerry, Kathy--My Family, My Life.ââWe can do no great things only small things with great love.â~Mother TeresaShe will be deeply missed by her family and friends. We will celebrate the love she has given to each of us and hold her memory close to our hearts until we meet again.Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 1-4 & 6-8 PM on Friday, August 26th, where a Parastas service will be held at 7 PM. On Saturday, August 27th, Mrs. Musick will be moved to St. Maryâs Byzantine Catholic Church in Sabraton, where visitation will continue from 10 AM until 10:50 AM. The celebration of the Divine Liturgy will take place at 11 AM in the church with Father Michael Huszti as celebrant. Interment will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery.Flowers are welcomed by the family at the funeral home. However, because of Kateâs well-known charitable nature, contributions in her name may be made to any charity of the donorâs choice.
