Dewey has spent more than 60 years as a funeral service professional in dedicated service to our community. He and his wife founded Hastings Funeral Home in 1952 and have grown the business continuously since then, making Hastings Funeral Home the most trusted name in funeral service in Monongalia County.

He is actively involved in the Spruce Street United Methodist Church, Morgantown Rotary Club, Odd Fellows Lodge, and both the West Virginia and National Funeral Directors Associations.

Dewey has been married to Mary Stella Nichols for more sixty years, and they shared equally in the parenting of their two sons, Edward Daniel Hastings, and Dewey Samuel Hastings.  Now, they are able to enjoy time with their three grandsons and two granddaughters.

Mr. Hastings is still very active with our firm and remains a constant resource of knowledge and support for our clients and staff members.

"Dan" can often be heard commenting, "Funeral service is not a job; it’s a way of life. You must be deeply committed to serving families in what is often their darkest time." He has been a licensed professional since 1974.

He is also a devoted father to his two sons, Matthew and Grant. "I’m completely devoted to my work, and my family. And I wouldn’t have it any other way."

Dan is a graduate of Morgantown High School, West Virginia University and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.

He is a member of many local civic organizations, as well as a participating member of NFDA, the National Funeral Directors Association, the West Virginia Funeral Directors Association, and CANA, the Cremation Association of North America.

Grant represents the third generation of the Hastings family to become actively involved with our business - providing service as a licensed funeral director and crematory operator to area families.

He graduated from Morgantown High School, attended West Virginia University and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in September, 2008.  

He’s been in the field for over 10 years now and our families have come to enjoy his fresh approach, and kind nature.

He is the son of Kathy and Dan Hastings, and younger brother to Matthew. Grant has a number of hobbies – many of which he enjoys with his dog, Bobby. As many in our area, Grant likes hunting, camping, skiing, and is fond of music in his quieter, less-active moments.

Thomas graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, and has served as a funeral service professional for the past 52 years. “I find this a very rewarding field. It’s a wonderful feeling to support people in their time of loss.”

He is a veteran, having served in the United States Army Medical Corps during the Korean conflict. He’s an active member of the American Legion, Lodge #200.

Having attended and graduated from West Virginia University, Thomas is also a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity.

He and his wife, Neva, have three children, and are now the proud grandparents of three.

Ryan joined our staff in April of 2013. He has been in funeral service for 15 years and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of West Virginia.  

He is a 2005 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and also graduated from West Virginia University.

Ryan enjoys hunting, golfing, and is an avid sports fan- closely following the West Virginia Mountaineers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Penguins.  He is also a member of several civic groups including the Upper Mon Valley Shrine Club and enjoys volunteering with the United Way.

He has been married to his wife, Jessica Ford, since 2005 and they have two children, Cate and Andrew.

Sandy has been working with us since 2001.

She is a 1967 graduate of University High School and spent 21 years in the field of property and casualty insurance before joining our staff as a licensed life insurance agent, pre-need funeral counselor and administrative assistant.

Sandy is very knowledgeable in the insurance field and is a great asset to our clients in assisting them with life insurance claims and procedures.

Dale joined our staff in 2012 and has been a very valuable addition from the beginning - always willing to lend a hand when needed. His responsibilities include the general upkeep of our facilities and grounds, as well as general maintenance.

Recently, Dale received his certification from the State of West Virginia as a Licensed Crematory Operator after completing his course with Matthews Cremation. He has taken on many of the day to day responsibilities of the operation and upkeep of our crematory facility in conjunction with our other licensed funeral directors and crematory operators.

Dale resides in Morgantown, and in his spare time enjoys outdoor related activities.

Sean is a 1995 Graduate of John A. Gupton Mortuary College of Nashville, TN.  Mr. Maier has been with Hastings for over 10 years in both full and part time.  Today, Sean works as a dedicated full time director and continues to bring his expertise to the Hastings legacy.  He is a proud father and enjoy's spending time with his four children.

Anthony McIe is a 2010 graduate of Morgantown High School and a recent graduate from West Virginia Univertsity with a Bachelor's Degree in Religious Studies.

Anthony has been employed at Hastings in various capacities on a part time basis since his senior year of high school, and expressed an interest in becoming a funeral director. Upon his graduation from WVU, Anthony joined our team in a full time capacity as an Apprentice Funeral Director. He will complete a one year study with us before going on to further his studies at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and ultimately, becoming a licensed funeral director.
