Obituary of Roger Lee Powell

Roger Lee Powell, 71, of Morgantown passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Ruby Memorial Hospital with family by his side. Roger was born in Monongalia County on May 21, 1943, the son of the late John Powell and Margaret (Hilling) Powell. He was in the Navy from1960 to 1964 as a gunner. He was a loving father loved by all and will be missed. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Powell, sons Robert Powell, Mark Powell and wife Wendy Powell; daughter Connie Powell Soccorsi and husband Todd Soccorsi all of Morgantown; brothers, Terry Powell and wife Linda from Arizona and Mike Powell and wife Sue of Fairmont; several nieces and nephews; two grandchildren, T. J. Soccorsi and Jessica Soccorsi; step-mother, Athea Powell and sister-in-law, Shirley Powell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Johnny and Larry and sister Sandy Jo. Family and friends will be received at Nicholson Chapel Church, Summers School Road, Morgantown on Wednesday, July 16th from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday, July 17th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jake Nicholson officiating.
