Bonita Mantini Smith, 84, most recently of Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown and formerly of South Park and North Port, FL, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, with family by her side.Bonita was born in Morgantown on February 12, 1928, daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (Ferrara) Mantini.Bonita was a junior-high school teacher in Monongalia County, WV and Greene County, PA for many years. After retiring to North Port, FL, she also served as a substitute teacher. She belonged to the North Port Yacht Club and participated in outdoors sports such as fishing contests and diving activities. She was also an active Sunday school teacher and a substitute teacher at St. Charles Bartolomeo Academy in Port Charlotte. Upon her return to Morgantown, she was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Moore of Bruceton Mills, two sons and spouses, Louis Smith and wife Ronda of Morgantown, and William Smith, Jr. and wife Shirley of Claremore, OK one brother and spouse, Dr. Emil Mantini and wife Jane of Florida, and one sister, Maria Mantini two granddaughters, Katy Layne and husband Nick of Claremore OK, and Susan Peskar and husband Matt of Cheat Lake six grandsons, Justin Smith, Ben Smith and wife Bronlyn, of Morgantown, Stanley Moore of Fleming Island FL, Jared Moore of Bruceton Mills WV, Billy Smith Wise of Gainesville, FL and Billy Smith of Claremore, OK two great-granddaughters, Sarah Peskar and Ashley Peskar, and one great-grandson Jason Peskar all of Cheat Lake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Smith and son, David J. Smith.Family and friends may call at Faith Baptist Church, 809 Greenbag Rd, Morgantown on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 5:00 â" 6:00 pm. A service celebrating her life will be held at 6:00 pm with Pastor Bennie L. Moran officiating.
