Dear Mannings,Since I will be going out of town on Friday, I am writing to express my thoughts about your mother. Sometime during my high school years she became my piano teacher. And what a great teacher she was. I had several teachers before her but she introduced me to a more classical genre. She was patient, understanding, calm, encouraging -- a grand lady. When I finished high school and entered WVU she had a "graduation" recital and a lovely reception for me in her home. I probably did not appreciate her at the time, but as I have seen her at the Village, I believe "a grand lady" best describes her. Please accept my sincere sympathy. She was an example for all of us.
