Obituary of Rose McDonald

Rose Marie McDonald, 87, of Beulah Road, Morgantown, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012 at Monongalia General Hospital.She was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Schultzville, PA and later moved to Newburgh, NY. She was the daughter of the late William Walls Decker, Sr. and Sarah Ellen Howey Decker. She moved to Morgantown, WV after her husband completed his time in the service. She was retired from WVU Housing, where she worked more than 20 years. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and taking care of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Nicholson, Brenda and Lonnie Johnson II, all of Morgantown, and Patricia and Larry Murray, of Lorain, OH, a son, Michael and Ann McDonald, of Reidsville, NC one sister, Mae Race and many nephews and nieces in the NY area one sister-in-law, Ethel McDonald a close family friend, Peggy Russell 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey and Lisa Murray, Mark and Jenn Murray, Matthew and Becki Murray, Crystal (Johnson) and Joe White, Lonnie Johnson III, Mary (Boo) Sapp, Melinda Johnson and Joey Plum, John and Sissy Nicholson, Andrew and Allie Nicholson, and Megan (McDonald) and Paul Sypert great-grandchildren, Kala Gibson, Courtney Gibson and friend Steven Sine, David Gibson Jr., Kaitlyn Murray, and Camille Murray, Joanne Nicholson, Aubrey Nicholson and Chloe Nicholson, Dakota Murray and Savannah Murray, Danniell Nicholson and Lillian Nicholson, Isayah Jones and Emma Plum, Dakotah and Aurora Plum, John Thomas Murray, Nathan Murray and Nattie Murray, Mackenzie McDonald and Maddyson McDonald as well as one great-great-grandchild, Tristan Sine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard McDonald, two brothers and four sisters, and many brothers and sisters-in-law, one son-in-law, Bill Nicholson and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Murray.Friends will be received at Nicholson Chapel Church on Summers School Road, Morgantown, from 3p.m. on Monday, April 2, until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3 with Rev. Elmer Nicholson and Pastor Matthew Murray, grandson of Mrs. McDonald, co-officiating. Interment will follow at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
