Lawrence Leroy Clark, 82, of E. Brockway Ave., Morgantown, went home to be with the Lord late Tuesday night, March 27, 2012, at Monongalia General Hospital.He was born in Morgantown on July 10, 1929, a son of the late William Clark and the late Idabelle (Flowers) Clark.Survivors include his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Peggy Allen of Maidsville, Deloris and Audrey Sanders of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Julie and Margaret Madden both of Morgantown as well as several nieces and nephews and his ever faithful canine companion, Abby.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Rose Ann Clark on February 3, 2009, and a host of brothers and sisters Helen Lawlis, Lloyd Clark, Alberta Flowers, Mildred Maxwell, Herman âHuckâ Clark, Leota Rowand, Vivian May Clark, Dorothea Thrasher, Thelma King and Nellie Clark. Mr. Clark was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He worked for a period of time for Sterling Faucet, and then retired from the City of Morgantown as a mechanic after many years of service. He was a long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Westover where he served as an usher, and was a proud member of the Morgantown City Police Reserves.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 6-8 PM Thursday, March 29th, 1-3 & 6-8 PM on Friday, March 30th and from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM on Saturday, March 31st with Pastor Jeff Huggins officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover where full military honors will be accorded at the graveside.Flowers are welcomed at the funeral home.
