Ralph F. Marstiller, 89, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012, at his residence in Star City, WV.Ralph was born in Elkins, West Virginia on September 17, 1922 son of the late Frank S. & Ruth Lipscomb Marstiller. Ralph was a member of the Suncrest United Methodist Church for over 50 years.After graduating from Elkins High School, he served in the US Navy, during WWII, in the Allusion Islands. While there he received a metal for bravery for saving a comradeâs life. After he returned, he attended and graduated from West Virginia University. He was employed by the Morgantown office of the Social Security Administration for 34 years. He is survived by his wife Ruth Ellen Waters Marstiller of 64 years, his three sons and daughter-in-laws, Dennis & Faye of Oak Hill, WV, Fred and Meria of Morgantown, WV and Kenneth & Jeanette of Inwood, WV. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Andy Marstiller, of Fayettville, WV, Lori Keller & husband Jeremy of Scarbro, WV, Heather Bartlett and husband Donald of Morgantown, WV, Carrie Mills & husband Todd of Morgantown, Benjamin Marstiller of Morgantown, Erin Winters & husband Steve of Salem, VA, Christina Lewin & husband Aaron of Martinsburg, and Glenn & wife Michelle Staubs of Martinsburg ten great-grandchildren, Elijah & Jaylen Keller, Isabella & Carson Bartlett, Braylie Mills, Alyssa Winters, David, Juliet, Violet and India Lewin also survived by four nieces, one nephew and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Marie Swisher. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Sunday, March 25 from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. Visitation will continue at Suncrest United Methodist Church on Monday, March 26 from 10-11a.m. Funeral services will be held in the church at 11:00a.m. Monday with Rev. Tim W. Halloran and Rev. Bill Kinsey officiating. Burial will be held at 1p.m. at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, where full military honors will be accorded at the graveside.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ralphâs memory to the American Cancer Society, Monongalia Unit, 122 S. High St., Morgantown, WV 26501
