Esther Naomi Carpenter, 88, of Summer School Road, Morgantown, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012, at the home of Clinton and Marlene Burns.Esther was born in Morgantown on May 31, 1923, the daughter of the late Henry and Zella Murray Nicholson. She was a member of the Burns Chapel United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary. Esther retired from Sterling Faucet. She enjoyed doing crafts and having dinner with her sisters.She is survived by her sisters, Dana Nicholson, Edith Burns, Maxine Hall and Marlene Burns and husband Clinton Burns all of Morgantown and sister-in-law, Vesta Johnson of Buckhannon as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Pearly Carpenter, brothers Oscar, Willard, Kenneth, and an infant brother Warren and sisters Mildred McMillen, Opal Murray and Mary Murray.Special thanks to the nurses and therapists from Amedisys. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Tuesday, March 13 from 3-5 and 7-9p.m. Visitation will continue at Burns Chapel United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 14 from 9:00a.m.until the time of the funeral service at 10:00a.m. with Rev. Elmer Nicholson officiating.
