Obituary of Gerry Shay

Gerry Lee Shay, 56, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012, at his residence.Gerry was born in Morgantown on August 14, 1955, the son of Otis Waters and Helga (Grunert) Shay.He worked as a property manager for Shay Rentals. He was an avid billiards player having won several tournaments. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and backpacking and taking long drive with his brother. He will be sadly missed by his parents, whom he resided with, his brother and best friend Leo and his entire family. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Diana Shay and husband Dan Clay of Alderson, WV, a brother, Leo Shay and wife, Caroline of Morgantown, two nieces and spouse, Courtney Brady and husband, Josh, and Leah Shay, a nephew Nathan Clay of Morgantown, two aunts, Erika Sapp of Germany, and Charlotte Ann Sylvester of Masontown, a great-nephew, Connor Brady and a great-niece, Audrey Brady as well as several cousins. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. with V. Rev. Mark G. Ward, CP, VF officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
