Your laugh and smile will be forever embedded in my memory as well as others. My mom and dad loved you very much as you loved them. My dad use to "smack talk" but you'd give it back but in a polite manner. :) It was fun to listen to. Please say hello to them. I am deeply saddened to learn of Loray's death. We went to high school together and continued our assocation earning journalism degrees at WVU. Though we did not know her well, I admired her tenacity, shining spirit and positive energy. I never saw her without a smile. During her tenure at WVAQ, Loray's was one of the few shows I made a point to listen to. She sparked the airways and her optimism made me happy, as I know it did many others. To say she was taken away too soon is an understatement. But all beautiful spirits seem to leave us too soon, be they 23, 53 or 103...it's always seems to soon.I smile though to think that Loray, in heaven, is already reaching out and working to create the greatest radio program ever. I'd like to think if I tune in just right, I will hear her, laughing away. Respectfully, Karen Zeller

I've known Loray since we both started working at WAJR/WVAQ many years ago. During those early days of our careers we became good friends. We shared a lot of laughs and I have a lot of great memories. When I left the radio stations in 1984 to move to Florida, Loray was the first person to come visit me. Over the years, we've stayed in touch, but there were often long gaps between the times that we saw each other or talked on the phone. But, to Loray's credit, she never let the friendship die. Whether we had just talked the day before or the year before, Loray made it easy to pick up where we had left off.She had a big heart and I've thankful that she always had room for me in it.I last saw her in September. Never would have I imagined it would be the last time I would get to spend time with her. She was a special friend and I'm a better person for having known her.She will be missed.

What a devastating blow when my daughter called me to tell me the news this past Tuesday morning! I had seen Loray last in August at my sister-in-law's Make-A-Wish fundraiser (one of Loray's near and dear foundations!) and the photo shoot I made us pose for is even dearer to me now. We worked together at WVAQ in the 80's and even though she went on to have an illustrious radio career, while I opted for other pursuits, she never failed to crow to everyone when our paths would cross that I was her "radio mentor" who taught her everything she knew. That was Loray. When you departed from having been with her, you always felt 10 feet off the ground. She had a knack for making you feel good about yourself. Bubbling brown sugar is what she was and from reading all the posts, it's obvious her warm and vibrant personality left its mark on all of us. Truly a class lady with a golden voice, I didn't teach her anything...she already had it. She'll be the angel with the microphone.
