Dear Leo:It is so sad to loose Mirjana. She was a wonderful person who helped you and your daughters and did not hurt anybody. Her support for you was incredible. To lose a devoted wife and mother is really heart breaking. There was nothing to hate about Mirjana. Her artistic mind reflects her intellectual capability. She wanted to tell the world by her painting that she was not an ordinary person and that she saw the world differently from the rest of us. I looked deeply at her paintings try to understand what Mirjana was thinking, but I failed. May be she was telling us through her paintings that this world is complex and life is a mystery. May be her paintings explain why we lose wonderful people like Mirjana. May God give you Leo and your daughters the strength to go over her loss.

Alex and Vida had a fantastic mom and thankfully still have a wonderful dad. I will always cherish memories of us trick-or-treating through South Park with our little girls. They have grown into beautiful young women with wide open futures. Mirjana would be so proud. Peace and love to Leo, Alex, and Vida.

I will remember Mira and her wonderful family, husband Leo and daughters Alex and Vida for a great friendship that started during my visit to WWU in '98-99. It was a peculiar time for us born in Yugoslavia, like Mira, Leo and me. That spring '99 we had an unwanted opportunity and reason to lament an ongoing destruction of our old country by the new world hegemonic power. Besides politics we discussed logic, mathematics, physics, art and family.I am happy to have known Mira and sad that we have lost her.
