Donald A. Burns, 80, of Breakiron Road, Morgantown, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Monongalia General Hospital.Donald was born in Morgantown on July 29, 1931, the son of the late Elmer and Bertha Burns.He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps having served during the Korean conflict.Don was a former employee of Duntile Block Company, Riverside Electric, and retired from Hallâs Electric. Donald loved woodworking, fishing, hunting, guns and camping with his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edith Nicholson Burns, children and spouses, Don & Kathy Burns, Debbie & Scott Rosier grandchildren, Charlie Uphold, Andrew Burns, Annamarie Hunt and husband Kory Hunt, Courtney Rosier and Justin Rosier great-grandchildren Lillian Burns, Andrew Burns II, Brandon Burns, Junuh Hunt and Ariel Hunt brothers, Clinton Burns and wife Marlene sister, Carolyn May and sister-in-law, Wilma Burns and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivan Burns and Eldon Burns one sister, Dorothy Matthews. Family and friends will be received at Burns Chapel Church, Summers School Road, Morgantown, Monday, October 3 from 7:00p.m. until the time of the funeral service on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 10:30 a.m. . Burial will follow in Nicholson Chapel Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be provided by the Marine Corps League at the cemetery.Hastings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
