Margaret Ruth Lang Ream died peacefully in the home of her son on September 16, 2011, in Ringgold, GA, near Chattanooga, TN. Both of her sons and her daughter-in-law, who was Mrs. Reamâs primary caregiver during the decline in her health, were with her when she passed on. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Ream and her husband of 57 years, Vincent H. Ream, were long time residents of Morgantown, WV. Mrs. Ream was born October 19, 1920, in St. Benedict, PA, the second daughter of James Lang and Matilda Symons Lang. She graduated from Spangler (PA) High School in 1938 and as a registered nurse from Altoona (PA) Hospital in 1941. Married in 1943, she followed her husband around the country as he trained for overseas duty with the Army Air Forces. The couple lived in Westover, WV, from 1947-1950 while Mr. Ream attended WVU. During that time Mrs. Ream worked as a maternity nurse at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown. They returned to Morgantown in 1956. She returned to maternity nursing in 1960 and helped mothers and babies at the General Hospital until the late 1970âs. Mrs. Ream was likely one of the first persons anyone met in their lives if they were born between 1947 and early 1950 or between 1960 and 1978 at the General Hospital.Besides raising three children and a career in nursing, Mrs. Ream also frequently volunteered as an election poll worker and as a nurse when the Bloodmobile came to Morgantown. She spent some time running the nursery and assisting in managing Sunday School at the First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Ream and her husband lived on Wells Street from 1956 to 1980. In 1980 they moved to Windsor Avenue, where they lived until Mr. Reamâs death in 2000. Mrs Ream lived at Heritage Pointe from 2000 until November 2010, when she moved to Collegedale, TN, in order to be closer to her sonâs family.Mrs. Reamâs husband, Vincent, and daughter, Gail Mary Ream Wuotila, precede her in death and new life. She is survived by her son, Thomas J. Ream, and his wife, Nancy, of Memphis, TN her son, Jeffrey P. Ream, and his wife, Kathy, of Ringgold, GA and her son-in-law, Mark Wuotila, of San Mateo, CA. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Megan Ream of Arvada, CO Julie Ream Christianson of Corvallis, OR Eric Ream of Chattanooga, TN and Jon-Michael Ream of Chattanooga. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church with Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 PM. Co-Pastors John Sonnenday and Kris Haig will preside. Mrs. Reamâs remains were cremated on September 19 in Chattanooga. Her ashes will be interred with those of her husband at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV.
