Mark William Fichtner, 52, of Masontown formerly of Tyrone Road, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at his residence.Mark was born in Morgantown on March 25, 1959, the son of William Fichtner and the late Etta Mae Wright Fichtner.He graduated from University High School in 1977, after high school he began Charter Engineering which later became Francis Engineering. Mark was a machinist and fabricator at Monongah for Consol Energy. He was a member of UMWA Local 1643. Mark loved farming he worked on his farm for many years, and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and especially fishing. He also loved spending time with his family and friends and especially with his children. In addition to his father, he is survived by his children Chelsey Fichtner, Andrea Fichtner, Ashley Sypolt and Tony Runner, a brother, John Fichtner, a sister, Jane Rapp, a granddaughter, Savannah Fields, Melissa Fichtner the mother of his children, a niece, Rachel Samples and husband Mike, nephew John W. Fichtner and great-nephew Gavin Michael Samples He was preceded in death by his mother, Etta Mae Fichtner in 2008, his maternal grandparents Herman and Irene Wright, his paternal grandparents Charles and Clara Fichtner and nephew Alan Fichtner. To honor Markâs wishes cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Sunday, May 1, from 5-7p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home Sunday at 7:00p.m. with Rev. Earnest Watkins officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Markâs memory to Mark Fichtner Memorial Account c/o Clear Mountain Bank, 1889 Earl Core Road, Morgantown, WV 26505.
