Jewel M. Cook, 85, of Cheat Lake, formerly of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at her residence.Jewel was born in Arnettsville on December 12, 1925, the daughter of the late Artie Moore Cunningham and Bessie Mae Cunningham McNeill.She retired from West Virginia University after 30 years of service, with the last 15 years doing student records for the college for Agriculture and Forestry. She is survived by her children Gary Cook and wife Linda of North Carolina, Thomasene Everly and husband, Dwight âChuckâ of Morgantown grandchildren, Shawnda Cook of Morgantown, Chad Cook of NC, Erin Everly of Fairmont and Emily Everly and Fiancee Jared Ciesla of Ohio great-grandchildren, Lindsay Cook of Morgantown and Gavin Ross Cook of NC and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Cook, Jr., sister, Izetta Stewart and step-father Sam McNeill The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Mark Johnson and staff of Morgantown Surgical, Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and Morgantown Hospice. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, Thursday, March 31, form 3-5p.m. and 7-9p.m. and on Friday from 9-10a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor David Linn officiating.Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.Donations may be made in Jewelâs memory to the Morgantown Hospice, P.O. Box 4222, Morgantown, WV 26504.
