Alfred S. Hoopengarner, 69, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011, at his home in Waterloo , Alabama, where he has lived since 2009.He was born May 28, 1941 and raised in Morgantown, WV to the late Alfred T. Hoopengarner and Nina L. Feathers Hoopengarner.Alfred was a firm yet caring father. He was kind and generous, never missing an opportunity to help someone in need. He was also ornery and didnât miss a chance to ruffle your feathers if he could. Furthermore Alfred was a hardworking man of many talents, being skilled in a number of fields. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Alfred is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Nicholson Hoopengarner five children, Steve Hoopengarner, Virgil Hoopengarner and wife Linda, Debbie Baker, Kathy Baker and husband Robert, Henry Hoopengarner and Kerri Straight one sister, Linda Hoopengarner Ratcliff and husband Jim eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown Tuesday, March 22 from 2-4 and 6-9p.m.. and from 10am to 12p.m (noon) Wednesday, March 23. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 12:00p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Elmer âScoopâ Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Donations may be made in his memory to the Alfred S. Hoopengarner Memorial Fund c/o Clear Mountain Bank, 1889 Earl Core Road, Morgantown, WV 26508 for Carolyn Nicholson Hoopengarner.
