Garnet E. Mortimer Flinn, 98, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at her residence.She was born December 20, 1912, in Spencer, WV to Gertrude and Clarence Ross Mortimer and was 1 of 5 children. She married N.R. âPorkyâ Flinn in 1935 and moved to Morgantown, WV. Garnet belonged to the Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine, Opportunity Club, First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and President of the Womenâs Association and the Pines Country Club Ladies Golf Association. She is survived by her only daughter, Sally Sue Thomas and three grandchildren: Bradley Laird Thomas of Jeffersonville, IN, Tracy Linn Shackelford and husband, Bill of Reedsville and Wendy Beth Thomas and husband, David Puderbaugh of Morgantown and six great-grandchildren, Brittany and Madison Thomas, Harlie Linn Shackelford, Luke, Dylan and David Cameron Puderbaugh. Garnet was preceded in death by her husband, her siblings and son-in-law, Nathan. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Friday, February 18, 2011 from 2-4p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Visitation will continue at the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 19, 2011, from 10-11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Craig Falkenstine officiating. Interment will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown.
