Susan Thompson Farmer, 73, of Heritage Point, Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Monongalia General Hospital.Susan was born in Morgantown on April 22, 1937, the daughter of the late Attorney George R. Farmer and late Lucy Thompson Farmer.She was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a faithful member of the Altar Guild and Womenâs Society for many years. She graduated from Morgantown High School in 1955, and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. Susan was a former employee of Sterling Faucet Company and retired from West Virginia University and the College of Human Resources and Education, Department of Family Resources. She was an active member of Business Professional Womenâs Organization and was a former state president of that group, as well as a member of CEO and Beta Sigma Phi.She was exceptionally talented and enjoyed scrap booking, stamping, and especially enjoyed needle work and knitting. She is survived by her sister, Mary Farmer Elder, her brother, George R. Farmer, Jr. and wife Mary Ann Farmer nieces, Jan Elder and spouse Ray Ostanek, Lisa and spouse Tom Laurinza nephews, George R. Farmer III and wife Joan Stephen B. Farmer and wife Karen, and Jeffrey W. Farmer great-nieces and nephews, Mary Beth Laurinza, Julie Laurinza, Brooks H. Farmer, Chase L. Farmer, Caitlin M. Farmer and great-great nephew, Caden Farmer.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant brother, nephew David L. Farmer and brother-in-law, Dr. John C. Elder.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Friday, Feb. 11 from 3-7p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday Feb. 12 from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service at11:00a.m. with Rev. Michael Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 503 High Street, Morgantown, WV 26505 and Employee Appreciation Fund, c/o The Village at Heritage Point, 1 Heritage Point, Morgantown, WV 26505.
